FLAGS OF THE FORMER UNITED KINGDOM, 2019 

For this project I created an alternate history of the United Kingdom. In this version of reality, the divisions within the country - due to politics, geography, religion, class, etc. - have reached a boiling point, and the once ‘United Kingdom’ has separated into dozens of independent states. 

Here is a selection of flags from the body of land known as the Former United Kingdom (F.U.K): 

Croydon Independence Militia - While Croydon is part of the Greater London Superstate, a grassroots separatist faction has emerged, fighting for autonomy for Croydon as its own state, and threatening violence to achieve this goal.

The Pagan Commonwealth of Dorset - Being the second largest religion in the region, the old nation’s Pagan communities gathered in Dorset, making it their homeland.

The Democratic Republic of the Isle of Wight - Quickly descending into anarchy after the fracture of the UK, an oppressive authoritarian government soon came into power, ‘stabilising the region’.

East Yorkshire Republic - Formed from a brutal conflict during the split from the other ridings of Yorkshire. Battles frequently break out between the neighbouring states in this region.

The Kingdom of Windsor - The last stronghold of the royal family, and the homeland of the ‘true Britons’ and the ‘final patriots’, who hope to reunify the Former United Kingdom.
